Jed Metcher Partners with Race Center for OZ Assault
Jed Metcher FIM Superstock 600 Championship winner of 2011 in conjunction with Darren and Lisa Sciberras owners of the newly established Race Center, have come to an agreement to place our focus on running a race team on board a Kawasaki ZX 10 superbike in 2014.
Our long term project is to produce a competitive race package throughout 2014 in order to enter as a wild card in to World Superbike at Phillip Island in 2015, and potentially run a full WSBK session if enough support can be found. We strongly believe that with the new EVO Superbike rules that a successful result is very reachable. In Order to bring the machinery to a competitive level we will compete in the Australasian FX superbike series in the Formula OZ class so we can run the bike on Pirelli tyres in compliance with the World superbike single tyre brand rule. Our keys to success at this point are the facts that Phillip Island race track is in our back yard and the 2015 rule changes which play to the strengths of the Kawasaki ZX10. Our bike will be in very basic trim for Round 1 to be held at Wakefield on March 14-16 but we will work methodically throughout the year in order to see this project hit the world stage in 2015. It is a very ambitious project but it has become increasingly difficult for talented Australian riders to secure coemptive rides in the world championship so we are taking a different approach to the problem and we hope it paves the way for more to follow in our footsteps in years to come.
This opportunity has only come about in the last 2 weeks so it has been a very, very busy time for both Jed and Race Center. However we have already accomplished quite a lot thanks to our wonderful supporters.
A huge thanks to our current sponsors Batteries North Cairns, Get Trucked, Megacycle, Road Rocket / Valtermoto, Matris Suspension/Suspensions R Us, Woolich Racing, Outdoor Concepts Landscaping, Bulleen Health and Fitness, Fitmoto, Kabuto Helmets, Valid Technologies, Doctor Glass Fairings, Screens for Bikes and the MRRDA who have made this project possible so far.
Race Center road and track customers will have direct access to all our technical solutions developed through this project and our years of racing experience through our new workshop in Brunswick, Melbourne.
